Prague

So I leave for Prague tomorrow in the A.M.

Should be a great time with great friends.

I'm sure there will be a lot more info and pics when I get back.

I'll be back on the 20th, I'm not sure if my phone is going to work or not. Somehow, I doubt it. But who knows.

I have bag packed. Willing and will travel.

I pray this travel, although short, will shake me as hard as it can.

here's to the adventure.

Day 10: Albuquerque, NM - Santa Fe, NM

Woke early...

Still on sun time.

Packed up and parted ways again with a friend.

Made it up to Santa Fe late morning.

Went up to the Opera to try to connect, get house keys, and figure myself out.

No luck.

Walked around the house and backstage a while, reminding myself why I'm here.

Went to yet another cafe.

Got a call from my roommate. Met up, more coffee, plans for the evening.

Finally got keys, and an address.

Great house.

A neon ceiling fan and hardwood floors.

Grocery shopping, and dinner at Maria's...amazing

Got a visit at the house from the rest of the lighting staff.

Laughs, reconnections, and spirits lifted.

I remember why I'm doing all this.

sleep....

And that was my trip.

Day 9: Gila, NM - Albuquerque, NM

Woke to the sounds of more cooking.

Full breakfast and more coffee at dawn.

Got loaded up with gifts and some Gila water.

We part ways for another while.

Mountains yield yet again to sand and sun.

Made it back to ABQ in time for some afternoon derby.

The Team that won was great. Very smart playing.

Pizza and beer after party.

Back to Erica's apartment by myself and a few listens to my cousin's album.

So much cat hair

sleep....

Day 8: Gila, NM

Woke to the sun.

It had been a while.

The owner of the straw bale house came home. Greetings. Pleasantries.
Lesley cooks amazing blue corn pancakes and stove top espresso.

Breakfast by the creek.

Got to see her dwelling in the daylight.

A simple hut under a simple tree.

Big smiles.

Navigated my fully loaded Honda Civic back out of the creek.

Stopped in the house that we were to be house sitting that night.

Running water, lights, beautiful.

Met a Native American couple who have become the local parents for my cousin.

Yet more great people. Sincere and without an agenda.

Gathered food for dinner.

Just me and my cousin, enough food for 6. Stuffed with whole food.

A long, dark walk in the night. I am amazed at how much more she can see than me. I am blind in the darkness. The electric light has robbed me of my night sight.

Music into the night.

Lay upon the ground,

sleep...

Day 7: Albuquerque, NM - Gila, NM

Sorry about the delay, you know, work...

Woke with the kitties, mostly inflated air mattress.

Broke the fast at a local spot. Free internet. Showed Erica my dream scooter.

On the road south.

Deserts and sand gave way to mountains, big mountains, and scores of trees.

After almost missing every turn, I arrived in Silver City and stopped in at a Cafe.

Free internet.

Found my cousin getting of work at a seed and planters kinda place.

Had lunch with a friend of hers and started to catch up.

Spent most of the day running around, doing errands and drinking more coffee.

Lesley went to a women's sweat lodge in the evening, so I whiled away my time at another cafe.

Free internet.

Blogged the first 6 days of my trip while sipping on an expertly made americano.

Picked Lesley up at the lodge, and met an Austrian who said she liked my country very much.

Headed for Gila, home.

Navigated my fully loaded Honda Civic down a creek bed to a straw bale house where I spent my night.

Spent the night worrying about nothing and everything. The silence.

No electricity, plumbing, people, cars, planes.

Painful.

toss, turn, cats

sleep.
