Crazy

So I am in the process of finishing the 4th show I have worked on this term. It has been great though, too much free time really can wear on the mind. The most recent show has been a production of the Marriage of Figaro with the Greensboro Opera Company. Norman is the lighting designer and I am his assistant. It's been crazy fun, but draining. Learning much about the politics of this art, even more about the politics and games that need to be played for the opera world in particular. I really think I want to get into this whole "Opera" thing. I've been working a lot on the Opera I am designing in the Winter and I am loving it. Maybe this will be my career. Who knows. I'll just keep trucking along.

Varekai!

Amazing! Went to see the final dress rehearsal of Cirque du Sole's Varekai last night. The show was amazing. It was great to see a complete concept, a complete thought made solid. The collaboration that it must have taken to put that vision together is stagering. After the show we got to take a back stage tour of the place and see all the bits that make it what it is. A lot of elements were totally slapped together. Brilliant. And the facilities were pretty amazing as well. 62 trucks, fully loaded, move the show from place to place. That is about 4 times the size of the Wicked tour right now. All the show needs is a patch of ground, they supply all the power, plumbing, food, and space for the stay in the city. Crazy. I would love an opportunity to work for this company. I guess I should learn French.

A change...

myspace is boring.
I think I'll start posting here.
